GDPR what does it mean?

You may have heard about the new General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR"), that comes into effect May 25, 2018. If you haven't that's not a problem allow us a moment of your time and briefly explain what it means and how it may affect you.

The GDPR is a European Union (EU) & UK privacy law that will affect businesses around the world. It regulates how any organization uses the personal data of people located in the UK & EU. Personal data is any piece of data that, used alone or with other data, could identify a person. If you collect, change, transmit, erase, or otherwise use or store the personal data of UK & EU citizens, you'll need to comply with the GDPR.

We also require verifiable consent, a written record of when and how someone agreed to let us process their personal data. Consent must also be unambiguous and involve a clear affirmative action. The regulation also outlines the rights of individuals around their personal data. You will have the right to ask for details about your personal data and can ask us to do certain things with that data. You have the right to request your personal data be corrected, provided, to be prohibited for certain uses, or removed completely.
